Your satisfaction matters. This policy explains what you can expect when you buy a Mercury outboard motor from MercuryOutboards.ca. Plain language ensures you'll know exactly where you stand.
Return Eligibility
Outboard Motors
Outboard motors are final sale items. They cannot be returned for a refund or exchange. Here's why:
- Each motor has a unique serial number that Mercury Marine registers for warranty purposes.
- Shipping outboard motors requires specialized freight handling.
- Motors need professional inspection before and after transport.
- Installation or fuelling prevents resale as a new unit.
Important: This final sale policy doesn't affect your rights under the manufacturer's warranty for defective products.
When Your Motor Arrives
Inspect your shipment carefully before signing for delivery. If you see visible damage to the packaging or motor, you have two options:
Option 1: Refuse the Delivery
Note the damage on the carrier's paperwork. Contact support@mercuryoutboards.ca right away.
Option 2: Accept with Notation
Sign for the delivery but write "DAMAGED" on the carrier's paperwork. Take photos and contact support@mercuryoutboards.ca within 24 hours.
If You Suspect a Problem After Delivery
If you believe your motor has a manufacturing defect or shipping damage, follow these steps:
- Don't install, fuel, or start the motor. This voids your ability to make a shipping damage claim and affects warranty coverage.
- Document everything. Take clear photos of the motor, packaging, and any visible issues.
- Contact support@mercuryoutboards.ca within 48 hours of delivery to report the problem.
- Keep all packaging until MercuryOutboards.ca resolves the issue. The carrier needs this for inspection.
