Accessibility Policy

Everyone belongs on the water, and that experience should start here on our website.

Whether you use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, or simply prefer to read without clutter, we want you to be able to find what you need and place your order.

If something here’s a barrier, tell us. We respond within 2 business days.

The standard we follow

We build and maintain this site to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the current benchmark for web accessibility. Because WCAG 2.2 includes everything in versions 2.0 and 2.1, meeting it also covers the older versions that some laws reference.

We support the goals of Canada’s accessibility laws, including the Accessible Canada Act, provincial accessibility legislation, and the Canadian Human Rights Act, which treats equal access as a right.

Conformance status: partially conformant. This site aims to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA, and some content does not yet meet the standard. The section below is honest about where the gaps are.

What we’ve built in

Clean layouts and easy reading

  • Plain language and uncluttered pages, so nothing is harder to follow than it needs to be
  • Consistent design. Menus and buttons look and behave the same on every page
  • Scalable text. Zoom to 200% without the page breaking or losing information

Visuals and system preferences

  • Your device, your rules. The site respects the settings you’ve already chosen. Dark mode for light sensitivity, or reduced motion to stop animations, and the site adjusts
  • High contrast between text and background
  • No flashing or blinking content

Video

  • Captions on our video content. Transcripts are not yet available. Ask us and we’ll send you the content in another format

Forms

  • Clear error handling. If you miss a field or make a mistake, we highlight what went wrong and how to fix it
  • No time limits. Nothing on this site expires while you’re filling it in

Where we’re still improving

We know there are gaps.

Third-party tools. Some parts of this site are built on software we do not control, including our store platform and embedded tools. Not all of it meets the standard yet.

How we’re addressing it: we require new partners to provide a VPAT or ACR report before we add their tools.

Image alt text. Not every image on the site currently carries descriptive alt text, and product images are the main gap. This is being addressed as part of our platform migration rather than patched piecemeal, so the fix arrives with the new store.

Video transcripts. Our video content is captioned. Transcripts are not yet available, and we’ll send you a transcript on request in the meantime.

Older PDFs. Some brochures from before 2023 are not fully readable by assistive technology. Tell us which one and we’ll send you an accessible version.

How we check our work. We do not run a formal audit programme, and we’d rather say so than imply one. What we do is fix what gets reported and what we find, and we require new third-party tools to provide a VPAT or ACR report before we add them.

Reported issues carry weight. If you hit a barrier, telling us helps, because a reported problem is easier to prioritise with our platform provider than one we’ve only noticed internally. It also carries more weight with us than an internal note.

You never have to use this website

Call 1-807-206-0032, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM PST, and we’ll size the engine with you, answer your questions and place the order on the call.

Same service, same pricing as ordering online.

Inclusive calling. If you’re deaf, deafened or hard of hearing, we accept calls through the Canada Video Relay Service (VRS) or your preferred TTY relay service.

Need something in a different format?

Just ask. If you need our policies, manuals or product information as large print, a plain-language summary, or a screen-reader-friendly document, contact us and we’ll send it within 5 business days.

It helps if you can include:

  • The page you were on
  • What you were trying to do and what went wrong
  • The browser or assistive technology you were using

Do not worry if you cannot. Get in touch either way.
